I first started growing orchids in 1967, when I was given two cattleyas by a grower in Cairns, when I was judging pigeons at the Agricultural Show.
With this grower’s guidance I managed to overcome most of the problems that are faced today by new growers. I became an Orchid Judge in 1974 and this helped me to learn much about their growing from experienced growers.
I am member of the Bundaberg Orchid Society Inc. for over forty years, holding the offices of President, Treasurer, Show Committee Chairman and currently as Cultural Officer.
I have bred and registered Cattleyas with the RHS in England, have had plants gain Merit Awards with the Australian Orchid Council.
I have travelled to many Orchid Societies to give presentations on orchid culture.
